The shop located at 722 NW Couch measures almost 5000 square feet and houses a wide variety of machinery for working in wood and metals. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop on by. Plans are underway for the continued expansion of shop equipment and facilities. Stay tuned!

 Current Events!

Each year Colleges and Universities with IDSA student chapters host a jury review process through which a student is selected to receive the IDSA Student Merit Award. Criteria include graduation within the calendar year (2010), minimum GPA of 3.0, and student memebr ship in IDSA. Industry jurors review each student’s work and select a winner form the group. The jurors this year were Steve Prastka, Jeff Brummer, Brett Stern, and Gabriel Mathews. The students receive a one year membership to IDSA.

The IDSA Student Merit Award winner then attends the Western District conference, representing the college and giving a presentation of their work to the audience.  Approximately twelve schools will be in attendance at the District conference where one student will be selected as a Nationa Merit Award winner. Each year five stduents are selected as National Merit Award winners, one form each district. Their work will be in display at the National conference in August.

The Art Institute of Portland winner this year is Ryan DeLuca. Please extend a warm congratulations when you see him around the school. Ryan will travel to Denver, Colorado on April 23^rd, giving his presentation on Saturday, April 24^th.
